One of the first steps we had to make in the process of buying our boat was selecting a boat name. For months we had a piece of paper on the refrigerator for family members to add potential boat names. Some were funny, some were inspirational, each had their own story. As our closing drew near, we had multiple family meetings to narrow down boat names. Hearing each person’s perspective of each potential name was not only insightful, but an important part of the journey of learning more about each other.
We were struggling with the final name when someone from work asked me, “Why are your doing this? What is it you are hoping to experience or get out of this journey?” And that is when I knew we had our boat name.
Wonder:
- “a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable.”
- “rapt attention or astonishment at something awesomely mysterious or new to one’s experience”
- “a person, thing, or event that causes astonishment and admiration”
Whether we are gazing at all the stars in the sky, marveling at the turquoise beauty of the water, snorkeling while surrounded by schools of fish, or applauding the kaleidoscope of the colors of the sunset, we are going forth with eyes and hearts full of wonder.
Wonderstruck.
I love this post! We think about boat names all the time – constant source of “what if” conversation. The boat we sail on (not mine, my sister-in-law’s) is Satisfy my Soul, and the dinghy, Soul Mate.
LOVE the names your sis-in-law chose ! Wishing you well! Maybe we’ll see you on the water this winter…
I am awed at the journey you are all about to embark on. Looking forward to witnessing the joy and excitement you will have living your dream. Happy to know that dreams do come true. This is so cool, I’m going to follow you guys.
