We attended the Miami boat show again this year. The last time we went to this show was 2 years ago when we decided we really were going to go ahead with this dream of cruising one day. Two years ago we wandered the docks, climbing off and on sailboats, dreaming about “what-if?”.
This year we spent the majority of the time in the convention center armed with a list and an agenda.
While Kim attended seminars about diesel engines and electrical wiring, the kids and I roamed the large convention center looking at every boat accessory imaginable.
We climbed on parked large motor boats, tried on sun protective clothing, sat in replacement helm seats and compared their relative comfort, oohed and aahed over the size of the outboard engines on display, and overall had a great time.
In the end we didn’t buy very much. In fact, all Aislin can remember coming home with is a scrub brush.
But we did get to figure out things to order once we got home. We picked out the new electronic navigation equipment for the boat. We are getting a new anchor. We even chose a composting toilet.
We looked at the new boats, but came away very happy with the boat we have. Comparatively it has so much storage space, it is so stable and doesn’t rock around at the dock. But most importantly, it is ours and it is home.
