We were pleasantly surprised with how much we liked Beaufort, SC. En route I couldn’t help but sing:
“Momma, don’t whup little Buford,
Momma, don’t bang on his head,
Momma, don’t whup little Buford
You ought to just shoot him instead”
The ICW in this area is a series of rivers and cut throughs with miles of marsh all around us. Occasionally we would see a long dock leading to huge beautiful waterfront homes.
We spent the first night on a mooring ball. As opposed to anchoring for free, for only $20 we could use the showers, laundry, and have use of a courtesy car. We loved the Beaufort City Marina already!
The next morning when Kim pulled the rope to lower the anchor light it pulled off the light, so Aislin got a turn to go up the mast and retrieve the light.
Beaufort is very dog friendly, with a row of restaurants with outdoor seating that allow dogs. One of the restaurants even had a separate menu for dogs, which Brooke thought was delicious (not that she has a discriminating palate).
Beautiful waterfront area with rows of swings to enjoy the cool breeze!
Love reading about your adventures ….
Really enjoying being along virtually with you on your trip. As hurricane season is approaching, do you have a good plan to get your boat out of harm’s way on short notice?
