Happy Anniversary, Baby!!

Kim and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary on June 11th. The kids had been making secret plans for more than a week. We had to wait on a weather window to make our next trip, so we spent a few extra days (much to the kids excitement) in Brunswick getting ready to go.

The kids and I went to Publix the day before, and they asked if they could shop on their own with some privacy.  They exited the store each with paper bag and big grins on their faces. We woke up the next day with coffee made and ready for us, and were handed a piece of paper with the day’s itinerary.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We started out the day at a breakfast buffet at the Sandcastle Cafe on St Simon’s Island.  

 

We then walked around Neptune Park.  It is a beautiful, well done public area by the St Simon’s lighthouse.  There is a large fishing pier, huge oak trees with picnic benches, and a playground for the kids.  They also have the city branch of the public library, and a large swimming area with 3 pools.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Come to find out, Aislin had asked one of the other boaters to babysit her and Ben during the day so that we could have some “togetherness time”.  She and Ben had lunch on the other boat and played Rummicube and watched a movie.  When they returned they took us out to dinner—their treat.   We all got dressed up and went to the Basil Thai and Sushi restaurant in downtown Brunswick.  The kids sat at a separate booth next to us (their idea) and they paid the whole bill with their own money.    In the evening we got to find out what the Publix surprise was–Roses and an 8 inch Publix cake with Buttercream frosting. Yum!!!! Sylvia and Bill on Eos even joined us for our cake, as a big thank you for watching the kids for us.  What a fun day!
