We woke up to beautiful weather and decided to go out the Fort Pierce Inlet and do some sailing. We hadn’t actually sailed since our mast was shortened and we had all new standing rigging and this was a perfect day to test things out. Kim and Ben sailed at different points of sail which is basically the direction the wind is approaching your boat (Is the wind at the front of the boat, the side, or behind you). They wanted to try different angles and see how fast we could go.
Here’s Ben tacking and driving at the same time.
And while Kim and Benjamin did all the hard work sailing and tacking Aislin and I serenaded them on ukeleles.
We also did some man overboard drills, retrieving our throwable floating boat cushion out of the water. Between practicing different points of sails and the man overboard drills we sailed in circles right off the beach at Fort Pierce.
Here’s a screen shot of our path.
The perfect ending.
Karin and Jill here. Wow all that sailing stuff sounds confusing to me. Fun to see schooling at sea😄
You can join us for a sailing lesson anytime 🙂
Keep writing! Love hearing about all the adventures!!
