Again I got the privilege of spending my anniversary on the boat. The kids got up early and made us breakfast. We even got some special celebration pancakes.
We travelled to Vero Beach. It was a beautiful day.
We spent the night at the Loggerhead marina in Vero Beach. It is a very nice marina in a basin surrounded by what appear to be condos. And the special treat? It has a pool!
Initially when we pulled in we couldn’t find the slip we were assigned. We tied to the fuel dock and Kim and I got off the boat and walked down to where we thought the slip should be. We passed some other boaters who were familiar with the marina, they helped us find the slip. Then they asked if our husbands were going to pull the boat around for us. Sigh, wouldn’t that be nice. We could sit and drink pina coladas while someone else (husbands, deck hands, swabbies, anyone?) moved the boat. No such luck. We returned to the boat and enlisted those same boaters to help catch lines for us.
In this marina we had a full slip to tie up into which means we could back in and board on and off the ramp on our transom which is our easiest way to get on and off the boat. The problem? It is also the easiest way for the dogs to get on and off the boat. Good when it is potty time, not so good when they are missing the kids. They always stand guard on the boat when the kids are gone, anxiously awaiting their return.
Soon after arriving in Vero, the kids and I went on down to the pool so they could get cooled off while Kim secured things on the boat to join us later. I was lounging on the pool deck when suddenly Skipper squeezed through the pool fence and galloped in victory around the pool. He had found us!
I called Kim on the walkie talkie and asked, “Are you missing anyone?”
“Awwwww, of course I miss you, honey.” She replied. She had no idea that Skipper had escaped. Aislin carried him back to the boat and he had to stay in his crate while we were in the pool.
And I just want to add a wonderful boat name. This boat was docked in Vero Beach. How fitting.
Happy anniversary!🎉
