Kim and I are always in competition for who is Skipper’s favorite Grandma. Usually I am by far the favorite, with Kim doing all the scary poodle ravaging things like chasing him with a vacuum cleaner, trying to drown him during bath time at the sink, or poisoning him monthly with icky tasting flea and heart worm preventative, while my job is to comfort him afterwords with lots of cuddles and reassurances. So it was only fitting that when Skipper had a medical emergency Kim was the one to take him to the vet. The emergency? Poor little Skipper was unable to pee. He kept squatting, with nothing coming out. He did it several times during the evening, and then the next morning squatted 8 times without success. Kim took him to a vet in Daytona Beach. They did X-Rays, placed a catheter, checked urine for infection. Overall a very stressful day for Skipper and family. The result? A UTI and a dry inflamed urethra. 
The treatment: antibiotics and lubricating his urethra several times a day. The only lubricant we have on board? Vaseline lip therapy. Yep Kim has to massage Vaseline Lip Therapy onto the tip of Skipper’s penis several times a day. Guess who’s the favorite Grandma now?
