“When you walk to the edge of all the light you have and take that first step into the darkness of the unknown, you must believe one of two things will happen: There will be something solid for you to stand upon, or, you will be taught how to fly.”  Patrick Overton

We finally did it.  We made the plunge and sold our house in Mount Dora to live on Wonderstruck full time.  It took almost a year to sort, pack, and get the house ready to go on the market. Our precious Aunt Chris, who had lived with us for 8 years, moved in with her son and daughter-in-law in North Carolina.  We finally listed our house with a realtor in May, got little nibbles here and there but the market was not moving.  It was a tough summer–it is hard to live in a house with two children and two dogs and keep it ready to show at any time.   After being in limbo for months we decided this Fall to move forward as if.  We sat down and wrote out a timeline: emptying the house, renting a truck to deliver furniture to family in Tennessee and North Carolina, moving onto the boat the middle of October,  and then heading south from Brunswick, Georgia when hurricane season wanes in November.  We just hoped that everything would work out financially with my job, had multiple budgets going on the spreadsheet depending on if and when we sold the house or not, and started making reservations.   We spent the month of September renting U-hauls, then Penske trucks, then U-haul trailers, then more U-haul trucks and finally got the furniture out of the house, the precious things in storage, and the boating items to Georgia.

Tennessee here we come!

We took the kids to the boat for a weekend in September to let them get acclimated again, remember the size of their rooms (to help them downsize and pack), and help with the transition. And don’t you know, that weekend we got an offer, with a reasonable price and closing October 16th. We returned home to a flurry of till-we-meet-again (not goodbye) lunches, dinners, sleepovers, and get togethers with friends. We then said goodbye to our home of 11 years,  loaded one last U-haul trailer and took off for Brunswick Landing Marina.
