At last we got a weather window to return to the United States. The 54 hour crossing from Isla Mujeres to the Dry Tortugas was pretty uneventful. We had the current with us for most of the time and were able to sail for all but the very end of it.
The most entertaining part of it was the little birds that kept coming and landing on board. Here we are at least 70 miles from the closest bit of land and these little sparrow looking birds keep coming to visit us.
In addition to this little bird, one night we had a small white heron looking bird tuck himself in and sleep on the lifelines for a few hours.
As you can tell, when we are underway we don’t do a thing. We nap, we listen to podcasts and books on tape. But cooking, cleaning, even reading can be difficult while underway. Between the irregular sleeping/ watch hours and the seasickness medication we live in a mental fog which does not lend itself to productivity.
Fortunately the crossing was uneventful, the sunrises and sunsets beautiful, and we were able to safely arrive and drop anchor in the Dry Tortugas.
Cant wait to see you.
I’ve missed you!!!!
Your life , your pictures are so beautiful! Like living a dream; something most of us cannot identify with. Come see us in the mountains, love you all!❤️❤️
